INVITE TO CONTEST
FOURTH NATIONAL COMPETITION PLAY (not only) METAL CLAY 2013
The PLAY (not only) METAL CLAY competition is directed to everyone who’s making jewellery, no matter their used techniques and materials nor their abilities and experience. The goal of the competition is an integration of jewellery designers, enabling them to make new contacts and compare their accomplishments, presentation of the variety of solutions and the range of possibilities given by the use of different techniques and materials. The two first editions of the competition required the use of metal clay, the next one – because of the significant price increase of those materials – allowed the use of any material. As for right now, the metal clay market is joined by a new, Polish brand – Noble Clay, that manufactures materials competing both in terms of quality and price with the previous ones. That’s why now – while still promoting the metal clay technique – we still remember other jewellery techniques, including classic goldsmithing. In this year’s edition each technique and all materials used for the entries are gladly accepted and judged equally in three categories – “Metal Clay”, “Goldsmithing” and “Other Techniques”. The competition is organised by: Wytwórnia Antidotum www.wytwornia.antidotum.pl; Galeria Olissima www.olissimart.com; Noble Clay www.nobleclay.pl
Competition title: An Antidote for a Crisis The financial crisis affects peoples mental condition. Existential challenges, fear for the future and the necessity for limitations… all that affects our mood, decreases our resources of optimism and takes away our will for creative (and other) activities. We become irate, downcast, apathetic. Yet the sun is still shining, the trees are green and there’s still music! Let’s get away from the mundane then and try to find an antidote for the crisis, something that’s fun for us or – on the contrary – what moves us, yet still gives us the will to live.
Both single pieces and sets of jewellery can enter the competition. They will be judged by the makers technical agility, finishing quality, aesthetic worth, formal innovation and synthetic grasp of the subject.
The organisers assume choosing one winner and three honourable mentions – one for each category and one audience award.
The online audience voting will be held at www.metalclay.pl from 30th of April until 12th of May, 2013. The winners will be announced on the 18th of May, 2013 at 02:00 PM at the Wytwórnia Antidotum workshop and online at www.metalclay.pl; www.wytwornia.antidotum.pl; www.olissimart.com and www.nobleclay.pl
